As News Center 7 previously reported, 14-year-old Lizaiah Burdette died early Tuesday morning when he was left bleeding out in a car on Davis Avenue.

TRENDING STORIES:

Dayton Public Schools confirmed Burdette was a student in the district. News Center 7 later learned he attended Edwin Joel Brown Middle School.

A 911 caller told dispatchers that someone had been shot, but that “it didn’t happen” where Burdette was found.

Dayton Police confirmed the shooting took place on Fauver Avenue, about four miles away from where the teen was found alone in the backseat of that car.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, police made an arrest connected to that case later that same day, miles away on Westwood Avenue.

Officers took 26-year-old Austin Fitchpatrick into custody. Online jail records show he was not booked on suspicion of murder, but was booked on suspicion of several other charges, including tampering with evidence and obstructing official business.

News Center 7 asked, but police would not say if they were looking for more people in connection with Burdette’s death or if they’ve identified others who could face charges.
