SPRINGFIELD — A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle on a busy Springfield street on Saturday night.

As previously reported by News Center 7, the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on N. Belmont and Columbus Avenues.
When Springfield police got to the scene, they found the bicyclist, identified as 48-year-old Cheryl Suttles, with serious injuries.

Suttles was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where she died, according to a spokesperson for the city of Springfield.
As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, the victim’s father, Clyde Suttles, said she rode her bike everywhere.
Clyde said his daughter was a woman of faith who loved to cook and take care of her family.
He remembers the call he got over the weekend.
“Getting ready to sit down and eat dinner. I got the call that she was at the hospital, but then passed away,” he said. “It’s absolutely the worst call a parent can get.”
This crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Division Traffic Unit.
