Family of Spanish tourists dead after helicopter crash in New York City, mayor says

NEW YORK — UPDATE @ 5:50 p.m.:

The mayor of New York City has provided more information after a deadly helicopter crashed into the Hudson River Thursday afternoon.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said three adults and three children were killed, including the pilot and a family from Spain. Their bodies have been recovered, he said.

“Our hearts go out to the family of those who were on board and all six who were on board of the helicopter,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams said, CBS reported.

Six people died when a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River Thursday afternoon, the Associated Press reports.

The crash happened around 3:17 p.m. just off Manhattan.

CBS News reported that at least six people were on board, including two adults and three children.

Video posted on social media showed the helicopter mostly submerged, upside down in the water.

Multiple rescue boats were seen in the area of the crash.
