DARKE COUNTY — One woman is dead, and two others are injured after a two-vehicle crash on Monday night in Darke County.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, the two-car crash was reported at the intersection of OH-47 and Ansonia-Hunchbarger Road before 8:30 p.m.

A Darke County Deputy observed an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on State Route 47, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Brent Johnson.
As the deputy was trying to catch up to the SUV, the driver increased speed as if they were going to flee, said Johnson.
The deputy chased the SUV for five miles with speeds reaching 124 mph, according to a Darke County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
The SUV then crossed over the center line from the left side of the road, striking another vehicle head-on.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle was taken by Care Flight to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries, said Johnson.
The female passenger in the fleeing vehicle was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Darke County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
The female driver of the vehicle that was heading eastbound was taken to Reid Health Hospital in Richmond, Indiana, and has since been released.
News Center 7 crews on scene saw two cars involved, both with extensive damage.
