News Center 7’s Malik Patterson said that officers appeared to have found what’s left of a flare bullet.
In a 911 call obtained by News Center 7, a man called dispatchers concerned about this friend.
“I have a gentleman here who used to live downstairs. He showed up. He’s been shot with a flare gun or something,” the caller told dispatchers. “He’s hurt really bad. I need an ambulance.”
Patterson said medics were dispatched to North Dixie Drive, where the victim showed up at his friend’s door.
It is unknown how the victim arrived.
Patterson said he traveled two miles to get to his friend’s home.
“I don’t know what’s going on,” the caller told dispatchers. “You all can figure it out when you get here. I’m just a friend trying to help this man. I don’t want him to die.”
The victim told his friend what the car looked like when he was shot.
“He says he thinks it was a white Dodge, two-door,” the caller said. “It had a couple of white young kids in it, maybe 20, 21, black hair.”
News Center 7 is working to learn the victim’s condition and if anyone is in custody.
We will continue to update this story.
