HARRISON TWP — A Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy and another person were both injured after a crash in Harrison Township Saturday morning.

The crash occurred in the area of Needmore Road and the Interstate 75 southbound ramp around 1:45 a.m., according to a spokesperson with the Ohio State Highway Patrol Dayton Post.

A preliminary investigation found that a 28-year-old sheriff’s deputy was driving east on Needmore Road in a marked cruiser just before the crash happened.
A 54-year-old Dayton man driving a GMC truck west on Needmore Road turned left to get onto the interstate and hit the cruiser, according to the spokesperson.
The driver of the GMC was thrown from his truck and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
The deputy was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, the spokesperson said.
Needmore Road was closed for several hours while the Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted an investigation.
