As reported on News Center 7 at 5:30, Springboro police chased a car with three home burglary suspects inside.

The driver went southbound on I-75 from Austin Pike, but the tires were deflating quickly.

Officers jumped out but the three men inside the car had left the vehicle, looking for a hiding spot in the woods or nearby stores.

We were immediately about to put drones up in the air because we had three drone operators involved in this already,” Aaron Morgan with Springboro Police Department said.

The drones spotted a man hiding in store shelves, two more in a nearby tree line.

“They’re even able to give commands from the drone so they can be right above, instructing people as to what they want them to do,” Morgan said.

Video recorded by a drone shows Miami Township officers catching up to theft suspects hiding in the woods back in December 2023.

The drone can help keep people involved safer.

“Even though someone’s made a mistake and done something illegal, we don’t want them to get hurt,” Morgan said. “That’s not our goal. Our goal is to make sure everyone gets home safely.”

The three suspects, Darvon Antion Green, Naseem Zahir Whittle, Tyrese Larry Woodward, were indicted on charges of burglary, obstruction and failure to comply.
