SPRINGFIELD — Students could not return to their dorms after a fire at a local dorm on Friday.

Around 3:30 p.m., Springfield firefighters were called to Myers Hall at Wittenberg University for reports of fire.

When crews arrived, they found a fire in the basement of the building.
Everyone had evacuated the building, and no one was found inside.
The fire is not suspicious and appears to be contained to the basement mechanical room, according to the Springfield Fire Rescue Division.
It was not stated how long it would be until students could return to their dorms.
