The explosion was reported near a home in the 600 block of E. Court Street around 10 a.m., according to Sidney Police dispatchers.
When first responders got to the scene, they found an attached garage with structural damage and smoke coming from it, a city spokesperson said.
Our crew on the scene said the blast appeared to move the garage from its foundation.

News Center 7 also spoke to Charlie Wilson, who lives across the street from where the explosion happened. He said his doors bent inward and his house shook. After the blast, he went to look at what had happened.
“Then it’s the man, he’s coming out of the house with big burn marks all over his arms and smoke coming out of the house,” Wilson said. “It just kind of rocked everybody’s house around her a little.”
Wilson called 911, and firefighters and police showed up moments later, immediately starting treatment of the man’s burns.
“It looks like he’s got first and second degree (burns) to the face, arms, and hands,” Lt. Ryan Heitman, of the Sidney Fire Department, said. “Their estimate was about 40,40 percent.”
That man was flown from Wilson Hospital to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.
As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, Sidney fire investigators said the man was in the garage when the blast happened, which is believed to have involved a propane tank.
“There were multiple propane tanks in the garage,” Heitman said. “We believe the gas was shut off to the structure.”
Firefighters also said the victim’s girlfriend was in the house at the time of the explosion, but escaped injury.
She spoke with investigators throughout the day.
When speaking with News Center 7’s Mike Campbell, she said she wasn’t sure her boyfriend would answer when she called out after the explosion.
“I heard his faint voice, so he didn’t go unconscious at any time,” Sha’Tara Waldroop said. “I don’t think he fell. I’m not really sure.”
Investigators from the Sidney Fire Department are working with the State Fire Marshal’s Office to investigate the explosion and its cause.
