Photos show Dayton Hazmat, AES Ohio, Dayton police, and fire on the scene.
When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from the manhole cover, according to Dayton Fire Captain Matt Sherrill.
AES Ohio determined this was a “blown primary underground,” which caused the smoke.
Sherill told News Center 7’s Xavier Hershovitz that there was a brief fire, but it has subsided.
No injuries were reported.
Sherill said that AES Ohio has determined the problem.
We will update this story.
