Red Cross assisting woman after fire destroys Xenia home

XENIA — UPDATE: 9:00 p.m.

The American Red Cross is helping a woman after a fire destroyed a Xenia home on Saturday.

Xenia firefighters responded just after 7 p.m. to the 200 block of Colorado Drive on reports of a house fire.

An off-duty Xenia Township firefighter was in the area and saw the home on fire, according to Corey Stroup, Xenia Division of Fire Lieutenant.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire throughout the house.

A woman was inside the house, but escaped.

Medics treated her for a burn injury, but she did not go to the hospital, Lt. Stroup told News Center 7’s Malik Patterson.

The American Red Cross has been contacted and will assist the woman with housing for the night.

Several departments, including Xenia Township, Bellbrook, Beavercreek, and Spring Valley Township, assisted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
