As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, Fairborn firefighters responded around noon to the 200 block of N. Huron Court on reports of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the building’s second floor.
The fire damaged only one unit.
However, nine people live in that unit, and they have been displaced, a Fairborn Fire Department spokesperson said.

News Center 7’s Malik Patterson saw the Red Cross leaving after they checked on residents.
They went around the building to see if anyone had lost anything and needed some help.
Patterson spoke to a woman who rushed her family out of the house.
“We were actually sitting on the couch just talking casually, and my fiancé says, ‘Hey, I smell like burning plastic. ‘Do you smell that?’ And I said, ‘No,’” said Renee Brown.
Moments later, she told Patterson that she started to smell it.
“Our daughter knocked on the window in the front and was like, ‘The neighbor’s house is on fire,’” said Brown. “And then everyone came in and we got the babies and dogs out, and we just waited.”
Patterson also spoke with a next-door neighbor.
She said that they were lucky that the fire did not spread to her apartment, but her daughters’ wall got extremely hot.
Firefighters told our news crew that several departments responded to the scene.
“It was very scary,” said Brown. “I had my oldest kids leading the younger kids out. Fiancé getting the dog, I went to get the baby, and then I checked on my neighbors.”
No injuries were reported.
The cause remains under investigation.
