Early morning house fire in Riverside deemed ‘suspicious,’ chief says

RIVERSIDE — An early morning house fire in Riverside is being investigated as “suspicious,” according to Riverside Fire Department Chief Mark Miller.

The house fire was reported in the 140 block of Ellington Road just before 4 a.m.

Upon arrival, fire crews found flames and smoke coming from the house.

Miller said no one was in the house when the fire started and no injuries were reported.

Estimated damages currently stand at $125,000, Miller added.

A neighboring house was damaged as a result of the fire.

The Dayton Fire Department and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Fire Department responded to the scene to help extinguish the flames.

Since this fire was deemed suspicious, the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office and Riverside police are investigating, Miller said.
