Upon arrival, rescue crews found two adults and a child stranded. Two people were on top of the car and one was standing in the water approximately a third of a mile away from the dry road.

Haller said the water was three feet deep and moving.

Fire crews performed a “wading rescue” to get the man, woman and child out of the water.

The adults waded back to the dry ground in a “rescue formation” with the firefighters and the child was carried to safety, according to Haller. All three people had life jackets on.

Medics took the father to the hospital. It is unclear why he was hospitalized.

Haller said the mother and daughter were checked out by medics, but the mother refused additional treatment.

The car will stay in the area until the water recedes.

Haller said the driver went around a road closed sign on Tipp-Canal Road.

Several fire departments and police agencies responded to the scene to help.

No rescue personnel was injured in this incident.

“Do not attempt to drive through water on flooded road ways. Obey all road closed signs due to high water. The water is moving and has the ability to cause serious injuries up to death. The moving water can also cause the car to float with the current,” Haller said.
