As reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, the ongoing government shutdown is impacting more than just those who work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

TRENDING STORIES:

News Center 7 previously reported that the government shutdown has impacted Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio’s largest single-site employer.

Now, Government contractors are being impacted by the ongoing shutdown.

News Center 7 spoke with Micah North, the President and CEO of Beavercreek-based Resonant Sciences.

Resonant Sciences builds things like radars, antennas, and parts that go into the noses of airplanes.

The company does work that supports the commercial aviation and defense industries.

North told News Center 7 why government shutdowns can be difficult for defense contractors.

“It slows down contracts and slows down the ability to get things under contract. CRs are always a little bit painful for companies,” North said. “There are no new starts that happen there, and so if you’re expecting a new start on a contract, that can be painful; some of the payment terms can be painful.”

North said he hopes the shutdown is short-term.

“Certainly for the region and for the community, it’s something that we’d like to see get resolved as soon as possible,” North said. “We’re fine to weather the storm. But it does create problems for other companies and other organizations. And certainly when we were smaller, it was a lot tougher, depending on where your cash comes from.”

While another vote to end the government shutdown is scheduled in the U.S. Senate today, it is not expected to pass.
