The leak was reported at F&P America on Corporate Drive around 10 a.m.
Troy Fire Chief Matthew Simmons said roofing contractors were doing work when a piece of equipment fell onto a line that feeds F&P America’s welding operations. It caused an exterior argon gas leak and prompted a response from hazmat teams.

F&P America has an argon tank to help with its welding operations, according to Simmons.
Emergency crews isolated approximately 500 feet around the leak while hazmat crews worked to repair the leak.
“We got some hazmat crews, we did have to suit them up in air packs on them. It just took a while to assemble that,” Simmons said. “Once we did, we were able to go in and pretty quickly isolate the valves and get them back in operation.”
No injuries were reported.
The Miami County Hazmat Team, Troy Fire Department, and Shelby County Hazmat Team were all called to the scene.
