The shooting was reported after 10:45 p.m. on Independence Day in Dayton.
A 911 caller told dispatchers she found a man shot in the 3800 block of W. Second Street.

The man, later identified as Oshea Woods, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he later died.
“I’m still in disbelief,” Deborah Woods, his sister, said. “I don’t believe he’s gone.”
Woods’ family said he was the proud father of seven children between the ages of 7 and 21. He also played the drums for several churches.
His oldest child, a daughter named after her father, told News Center 7 that she’s dealing with immense pain while trying to encourage her six siblings.
“I gotta be strong for them,” Oshea Woods, the victim’s daughter, said. “If they see me check out, they feel like that’s OK, and I can’t let them do that. He wouldn’t want me to let them do that.”
As shown on News Center 7 at 5:00, the family is struggling with a 911 call from W. Second Street that said Woods was wearing a ski mask like he may have robbed someone. They said he was wearing a pink mask to match his pink and gray Nikes and would not be robbing anyone.
“He’s not robbing anyone,” his sister said. “He didn’t even have a gun on him. They didn’t find a gun around him, so no.”
The only thing the family wants now is to see the person who killed Woods held accountable.
“I just want justice for my brother, my nieces and nephews, for my family period,” his sister said. “All because he touched us all.”
Dayton Police are still investigating the shooting. They did confirm that they believe the shooting itself happened somewhere else, meaning someone may have moved Woods’ body to where he was found.
