News Center 7’s Malik Patterson reports that the intersection was closed for over four hours as a white car was stuck under a semi carrying a fuel tanker.
A third car was also involved in the crash.
Dayton Police Sergeant Lipps told Patterson that they were lucky that the tanker was empty at the time of the crash.
A woman called 911 shortly after the crash.
“There is a white car under the semi,” the caller told dispatchers. “There’s a bunch of people walking up to the car.”
“Do you see any movement?” asked the dispatcher.
“Not in the white car that’s under the semi. No,” the caller answered.
A tan car was the third vehicle involved in the crash.
“There’s a woman in the tan car, and she’s facing out,” the caller said. “She’s got her door open, so she’s okay.”
Medics transported the driver of the tanker and the driver of the white car.
Lipps said they believe the white car was at fault in this crash. The passenger in that car died.
The 911 caller also described what she saw before the crash.
“The white car went under the semi because we were at the green light coming on, Stanley across Stanley,” the caller said.
The cause of this crash remains under investigation by the Dayton Police Department Traffic Services unit.
