A preliminary investigation found that the driver of the Chevrolet experienced a medical emergency while driving on the interstate and went unconscious.
To avoid a crash, a 15-year-old passenger took the wheel, the sergeant said.
The Chevrolet hit the Infinity, which was also driving north on the interstate.
The Infinity went off the right side of the road, through a fence, and across Poe Avenue.
The car eventually overturned and hit a utility pole in the 5900 block of Poe Avenue, the sergeant said.
As previously reported by News Center 7, authorities shut down I-75 N for nearly an hour.
The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office Traffic Services Unit.
