WEST MILTON, Miami County — An apparent murder-suicide is under investigation in West Milton, according to West Milton Police Chief Doyle Wright.

A West Milton police officer was on patrol when they saw a car parked in the West Milton Municipal building parking lot, at 701 State Route 48, just after 5 a.m.

The trunk was open and a man was lying on the ground near the back of the car, Wright said.
The man was pronounced dead on scene from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Investigators found a woman dead inside the trunk of the car, Wright said.
The department believes the man and woman are married; however, their identities weren’t immediately available.
The West Milton Police Division and the Miami County Sheriff’s Office are working together on this investigation, Wright said.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) responded to process the crime scene, a spokesperson with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office confirmed.
“There are no direct threats to anyone in West Milton. This is an isolated incident that started outside our municipality and culminated here,” Wright said.
This incident remains under investigation.
