DAYTON — All available officers from the Dayton area were called to a local high school Sunday afternoon after a fight broke out.

As previously reported on News Center 7 at 11, students were at Meadowdale High School for an all star basketball game when a fight spurred the crowd of hundreds into chaos.
“This all star basketball game was supposed to be fun. It was supposed to be a Sunday fun day for the teenagers,” Shanita Bradshaw said.
Bradshaw lives across the street from Meadowdale High School. She was called to pick up her niece and nephew from the game after the fight broke out.

“I went over there, you had kids pushing kids out the doors. You had adults standing there waiting on their kids,” Bradshaw said. “It’s not just the kids, it’s the adults too. It’s like 660 brawls in different areas.”
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office shared with News Center 7 that there were more than 600 people at the school at the time. The initial students who had been fighting had already left, according to the sheriff’s office.
At this time, a large group left the school and were ordered by police to leave school property. The sheriff’s office says more fights broke out at this point and several people were detained for disorderly conduct.
Another large group of people exited the building and were also told to leave the property as multiple agencies responded to the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.
Multiple people were arrested who were not complying with officers, the sheriff’s office says.
Two boys were taken into custody after attempting to fight officers, according to the sheriff’s office. Officers used tasers to subdue these boys.
One officer was pepper sprayed while on the scene and another officer had minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. However, there were no other injuries reported on scene, the sheriff’s office says.
Bradshaw says many of the students were scared and didn’t know where to go.
“I had about four or five little kids, high schoolers and eighth graders, standing in my yard because they were scared [and] waiting on their parents to come and pick them up,” Bradshaw said. “It’s nerve wracking because you can’t send your kids nowhere, because my kids like going to basketball games.”
Bradshaw had an idea for future events.
“I just feel like, if you gonna have a big old event like this, you should have had extra security,” Bradshaw said.
It took officers over an hour to clear the property. The sheriff’s office says that is partially due to fights continuing into the neighborhoods as students left.
News Center 7 has reached out to Dayton Public Schools to see what they are doing in response to the incident. We are waiting for a response and will update the story accordingly.
