As reported on News Center 7 at 11, the Macy’s at the Dayton Mall was put up for sale Friday.
“Do I like it? Not really, you know, we want stores around here and malls,” Davrush Akhemodov from Springboro said.
Akhemodov says he used to come to the mall a lot when his kids were younger, but noticed thighs aren’t what they used to be.
But, for Akhemodov, you can’t beat the convenience of the store locations.

“So we don’t have to travel all the way down to Cincy,” Akhemodov said.
Last year Macy’s announced that they would be closing 65 stores across Ohio, and the Macy’s at the Fairfield Commons was on the list, but the Dayton Mall location was not.
Friday, News Center 7 found the property for sale on Loopnet, placing the value at around $1.4 million.
News Center 7 has reached out to Macy’s corporate communications department, but has not yet heard back.
“I think all those big department stores got a lot of competition when you can sit in your house, have it delivered to your doorstep, and you don’t have to get out,” Chris Melcher from Miamisburg said.
Melcher says he would like to see a different business move into the Macy’s space and buy the building.
The Macy’s located at the Dayton Mall was the last in the region. The next closest location is in the Kenwood Towne Center.
