Dayton Police and homicide detectives searched the street and nearby homes and backyards for evidence, witnesses or the shooter.
Donald Bowman says he heard nine gunshots then went outside, saw a man lying in the street and called 911.
A Montgomery County Regional Dispatch supervisor confirmed there was one victim.
“I called police, they showed up pretty quick, and that guy was hauled off in the ambulance,” Bowman said.
Bowman was grateful he hadn’t done his usual Sunday routine.
“I was going to get out here and do the yard work, and take the kids outside,” Bowman said.
Instead, Bowman said he stayed inside and watched as officers, including homicide detectives, filled his street.
“Hopefully they apprehend him and they get justice for the man that, you know, got shot,” Bowman said.
Bowman has lived on this street for 15 years and says shootings here are rare. His main worry is violence in his neighborhood.
“That’s a lot of kids in the neighborhood, a lot, and I’m glad none of them got hurt,” Bowman said.
News Center 7 is working to learn more about the investigation.
