As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, two separate deadly shootings and a crash happened within 12 hours.

TRENDING STORIES:

The first shooting happened just after 3 a.m. in the 900 block of Elder Street.

Upon arrival, Springfield police showed up and found a man in his 30s who had been shot and killed after a party.

“Elder, Elder, Elder Street. Somebody got shot, Elder Street, Elder, please just someone help me,” one 911 caller told dispatchers.

The caller told dispatchers that she wasn’t sure who the shooter was.

Springfield Police Sergeant James Byron previously told News Center 7 that they aren’t sure either, and the incident remains under investigation.

About 12 hours later, a car crashed into a home at the corner of South Limestone Street and East Euclid Avenue.

“There is a car that just went into a house, my coworker said she heard gunshots and that’s all I know,” a 911 caller told dispatchers.

Moments later, Springfield police received reports of a shooting down the road in the 200 block of East Euclid Avenue.

News Center 7 talked to Springfield Police Division Chief Allison Elliot about this incident.

“While they’re on their way to that investigation, a short time after we received an additional call in the 200 block of E Euclid Ave for an individual that had been shot,” Elliot said.

That man was transported to the hospital, but his current condition is unclear.

As officers tried to figure out what happened, News Center 7 crews watched a fight break out in the area where the car crashed into the home.

It’s not clear if anyone got in trouble as a result of this fight.

“Upon a further investigation into the crash with the vehicle into the house, it appears that there is another individual who had sustained gunshot wounds and is deceased at this time,” Elliot said. “So we are treating these as they are related at this time. Obviously, if there’s further information that we do determine, we will get that information out.”

Last year, Springfield hired a violence prevention coordinator to help tackle issues like this within the city.

News Center 7 confirmed on Wednesday that the government cut the funding that pays for that role.

News Center 7 will continue to follow this story.
