Local Skyline Chili closed after car slams into restaurant; driver cited

DAYTON — Police have found the person they believe is responsible for crashing into a Dayton Skyline Chili early Monday.

Just after midnight, University of Dayton police officers, with officers from the Dayton police, responded to an alarm at the Skyline Chili on Brown Street, according to a UD spokesperson.

The driver took off from the scene, leaving behind parts of their car and a headlight.

A short time after the crash, a Dayton police officer stopped a vehicle with front-end damage on Wyoming Street. The driver was cited for not stopping after an accident and failure to control.

News Center 7 spoke with the property manager, who said the restaurant will be closed until repairs are completed.

Cassandra Drew had to walk over broken glass while looking for breakfast on Brown Street.

She just hoped everyone was okay.

“Hopefully, whoever did this was okay, and nobody inside was hurt,” Drew said.
