A jury found Brock guilty of the murder of Lo-Letha Hall on Jan. 14. He was also convicted of felonious assault and kidnapping.
Inside the courthouse Monday, Hall’s son Mario made a statement.
“She, Loletha, my mom, was my safe place,” he said.
Mario said his mother was his best friend, and he couldn’t make sense of her death.
“Why did this have to happen? Why does she have to suffer alone?” he said.
Mario is thankful his mother had a dashcam to document what Brock did.
“It has left a hole in my heart that cannot be filled. She doesn’t get to grow old like William Brock,” Mario said.
Brock’s lawyers pointed out that a scammer put the tragic events in motion by threatening and extorting him.
But prosecutors said the crime they saw on tape made it clear this was murder.
The judge denied Brock’s request to be released on bond while they pursue an appeal of his conviction.
He is now headed to prison.
