His attorney told the judge that they reviewed the “mountain of evidence” involved in this case and had several conversations about what might play out in court if it were presented to a jury.

In the plea agreement, the recommended sentence was set at 18 months in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine. But it will ultimately be up to the court to decide.

If the court does not accept the agreed-upon sentence in the plea, Hughes could withdraw his guilty plea.

If he does not withdraw, the court would give him a more severe sentence than what is listed in the agreement.

The court may seize some of Hughes’ belongings that are related to his charges.

His sentencing date is scheduled for the beginning of February.

Before Hughes was in court Tuesday afternoon, there was a pre-trial hearing for all of the defendants who haven’t pleaded guilty.

Their trial date was set for Oct. 20.
