The arrests happened across Ohio.

From the Cleveland and Akron areas, to Columbus, to right here in the Miami Valley:

It was part of what the Ohio Attorney General’s Office called “Operation Next Door.”

A statewide sting that happened last week targeted prostitution and human trafficking.

One of the suspects arrested was Kirven Jackson.

TRENDING STORIES:

Court documents said he showed up at a local hotel room and agreed to pay an undercover detective for sex.

The Ohio AG’s Office said after his arrest, Jackson identified himself as a substitute teacher for Trotwood-Madison City Schools.

News Center 7 reached out to the district on Monday.

The superintendent forwarded a statement sent to parents:

We want to address a serious matter concerning a former member of our staff and assure you of the immediate, decisive action the district has taken.

The district was recently alerted to the arrest of Kirven Jackson, a former substitute teacher at our middle school, who was apprehended as part of a statewide law enforcement operation for alleged solicitation.

The moment we learned of this situation, The district immediately terminated Mr. Jackson’s employment and permanently banned him from all district property. Prior to his hire, Mr. Jackson underwent a thorough vetting process, including a criminal background check and references that revealed no concerns and were fully compliant with our safety policy and the state of Ohio’s requirements for school employment. Only this afternoon did we find out this arrest is the result of an independent, off-campus law enforcement operation that occurred after his hire.

Nevertheless, The district has launched a full internal investigation. Though we have no information indicating any student or staff member at our Middle School was impacted, this step is non-negotiable to ensure the safety of every single Trotwood-Madison student and staff member.

The safety and well-being of everyone in our buildings is our absolute highest priority. We are very disappointed by these allegations. If true, the alleged actions are counter to every value Ram Nation stands for. We are committed to full transparency and will do whatever it takes to ensure our schools remain the safest, most supportive place for every child.

Ohio AG Dave Yost said Monday the sting wasn’t just about holding people criminally accountable, it was also about helping victims.

Yost said that when there’s a third person involved in prostitution. Fetting some or often all of the money from the sale of sex: that’s human trafficking.

“It happens because of threats of violence. It happens because violence. It happens because of the chains of chemical addiction to drugs,” Yost said.

News Center 7 reached out to the public defender’s office, which was listed as Jackson’s lawyer in court records.
