TROTWOOD — A woman is dead after a crash on a busy Montgomery County road on Wednesday morning.

Trotwood officers and medics were dispatched around 9:04 a.m. to the State Route 49 and Little Richmond Road on reports of a crash, according to a Montgomery County Regional dispatch supervisor.

An initial investigation done by the Ohio State Highway Patrol showed that a 2010 Nissan Maxima, driven by Natia Scroggins, 35, of Dayton, was going south on SR 49 when it turned left at the intersection of Little Richmond Road.

While turning, the Nissan was hit by a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that had been going north on SR 49.

The impact sent both vehicles off the road. The Nissan then hit a utility box and a utility pole.

Scroggins was taken from the scene to Miami Valley Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 22-year-old Dayton man, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by state troopers.
