Dayton police on scene told News Center 7 that a male was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
An investigator with the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that they were called to Miami Valley Hospital in relation to this shooting.
News Center 7 crews saw more than a dozen Dayton police cruisers blocking off the entire street.
“When they arrived, they found at least one adult male suffering from gunshot wounds,” Dayton Police Department Lieutenant Thomas Cope said.
Investigators talked to several witnesses and used K-9s to search for evidence.
Cope added that they are not looking for any suspects, but wouldn’t say if anyone was arrested.
Barbara Blackburn and her neighbor, Wilma Clark, talked to News Center 7’s Mason Fletcher about what happened.
“This street usually is pretty quiet. It’s usually not that bad. So it’s kind of surprising,” Blackburn said.
They both said they feel safe here, but now have to deal with the harsh reality that their street is the center of a homicide investigation.
“There’s better ways of solving the problems without shooting and possibly killing somebody. And then they capture you, your life’s ruined too,” Clark said.
Additional information wasn’t immediately available.
News Center 7 will continue to follow this story.
