SPRINGFIELD — A man is dead after a stabbing in Springfield early Friday morning.

Police were called out to the 1500 block of Highland Avenue shortly before 6 a.m.
A 911 caller told a dispatcher that she woke up and found her boyfriend lying in a puddle of blood.

“I don’t know if he’s breathing. I need somebody to hurry up,” the caller said.
When officers got to the scene, they found 35-year-old Quintez Hubert suffering from multiple apparent stab wounds in the living room.
A release from the city said he died on the scene.
News Center 7 first called the Springfield Division of Police about this around 11:40 a.m. Then, a sergeant said police were investigating a shooting and that the person was transported to the hospital. We’re working to get clarification from the department.
The investigation into Hurbert’s death is ongoing,
