As previously reported by News Center 7, Dayton Public Schools Superintendent David Lawrence said 10 school resource officers and at least 400 people were at the game.

“We got a large crowd,” an officer said on the radio.

Moments later, another officer said, “There’s another fight in the gym.”

Emergency scanner traffic indicates that additional Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the high school at approximately 5:38 p.m.

“We need cars over here. We got people trying to get back in the building. We got about 60-70 kids out here all being disorderly,” an officer said over the radio.

Eventually, a Signal 99, or a county-wide call for backup, was issued, and police across Montgomery County responded to the high school.

“Harrison (Township) just dropped a 99 at Meadowdale High School, Meadowdale High School,” a Centerville police officer said over the radio.

“If Trotwoods got any crews they can send this way, we’re trying to get the building cleared out,” another officer said.

“We need additional responding units. We have a large group at the entrance, they’re running, separating, going different directions to fight. Gonna need some more here,” a different officer called out.

Some of the fights moved to the parking lot, where several adults became involved, according to Dayton Public Schools.

“We got additional law enforcement. Fights going on around here, south parking lot, we’re all ok though,” another officer said.

Authorities eventually broke up the fights and detained six students and two adults.

“If they are not wanting to leave, they go to jail for disorderly,” an officer said on the radio.

Dayton Public Schools said six of their students were involved in fights, along with two charter students.

“This type of altercation in this space is grounds for a level three. Level three is the most serious offense we have,” Lawrence said.

A spokesperson with the Montogmery County Sheriff’s Office said one officer got pepper sprayed and a second officer was hurt, but they are both okay.

Lawrence told News Center 7 that the district is looking for ways to keep this from happening again.

News Center 7 checked Montgomery County Jail records and found that officers arrested Demetrius Boyd Jr at Meadowdale High School on Sunday.

He’s facing preliminary charges of criminal trespass, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
