The ramp from I-70 to state Route 235 is going to be closed Monday for construction.

The new ramp will be two lanes and there will also be a traffic light.

After lawsuits delayed the construction of the new Buc-ee’s Huber Heights, walls have been put up and road construction is now scheduled.

Drivers will have to use a detour from May 19 to May 23 while construction takes place.

“As you travel west on I-70 and then that off ramp there, that would essentially be a two-lane off ramp. So, they’re widening it slightly,” Assistant City Manager Aaron Sorrell said.

Fortunately, drivers won’t have significant time added to their travels.

Truck driver Marvin Slater has been driving for more than 50 years and said he’s familiar with the busy interstate route.

“675 up there and across 40 and then back down, you’re looking at 10, maybe 15 minutes,” Slater said.

With the new Buc-ee’s being built, Slater said he anticipates some traffic on the interstate like he’s seen before.

“Half a mile, quarter mile backed up on the interstate, both directions. Just like it was in Smith Grove, Kentucky last year,” Slater said.
