News Center 7’s Malik Patterson said that crews dealt with weather and visibility on Sunday.
He said it was a decent-sized lake and required them to work as teams.
Preble County Deputy Spitler told Patterson that boats arrived before 2 a.m. on Sunday, before additional crews from across the region arrived around 8 a.m.
This included crews from Camden, New Paris, Butler County, Richmond, Indiana, and even the private Christian Ministries Search and Rescue Team.
They deployed sonars and split the lake into sections.
Spitler told Patterson that the average depth of this water ranges from 16 to 18 feet, and the deepest part is 23 feet.
Part of the search was called off Sunday morning due to lightning strikes near the area.
Patterson said they will have at least one crew during the overnight hours just in case. The search will resume Monday at 8 a.m.
We will continue to follow this story.
