2 in custody after SWAT standoff in Montgomery County

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Two people are in custody after a SWAT standoff in Montgomery County Sunday morning.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies first arrived in the 4000 block of Fer Don Road in Harrison Township around 7:40 a.m.

A Montgomery County dispatch supervisor told News Center 7 that they were called to the area for an aggravated robbery.

The victim of the robbery was in the house, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, when the suspect held them at gunpoint and took their money.

The victim was able to leave the home and call 911, according to deputies.

When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered the armed suspect was still in the house. Deputies believed he was armed with an AR-15 rifle and a handgun.

The sheriff’s office says they called Montgomery County Regional SWAT, who responded to the scene with Regional Hostage Negotiators.

The negotiators were able to speak with the suspect for hours until he gave himself up to SWAT and was taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect’s brother was taken into custody on scene and charged with misconduct at an emergency scene, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident.
