TRENDING STORIES:

News Center 7’s Malik Patterson said two SWAT trucks, a crime scene truck, and multiple cruisers were at the scene.

They were at a home on Highland Avenue. Our news crew captured the moment a man was taken into custody.

Patterson said he came out of the house just before 8:30 p.m.

Video shows a shirtless man walking over to an ambulance for medics to check him for injuries.

“Earlier this afternoon, our officers responded here for an individual who was a wanted person,” said Allison Elliott, Springfield Police Chief.

As previously reported by News Center 7, Springfield said that a man died after a stabbing on Highland Avenue on Friday.

Patterson asked Chief Elliott if the two scenes were related.

“Very fluid, active investigation,” she said. “In addition to this individual having warrants for their arrest, this individual is a person of interest in another investigation.”

A News Center 7 viewer sent Patterson video of over half a dozen officers walking up to the home and getting ready.

A few minutes later, the video shows more officers in position and waiting for the person to come out.

“We believe that this is the only individual involved at this time, so there does not appear to be any threat to the public or additional threats to the public,” said Chief Elliott.

Chief Elliott told News Center 7 that more information will be released.

News Center 7 is working to learn the person’s name and what charges he is facing.

We will continue to update this developing story.
