As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, 9-year-old Ezra Rabe and several other children were on a trampoline when a large tree fell on them.

Three of the kids were injured, but Ezra was the only one seriously hurt.

Jessie McClure said he is still coming to terms with the injuries his daughter suffered.

“It is really graphic and gruesome,” he said.

The accident happened while children were playing after a family get-together for Easter.

“We heard a pop, pop,” McClure said.

McClure and three other men ran down the hill to the trampoline that was crushed by a 70-foot-tall tree.

“She was really twisted up. We jumped in there, I was able to get a branch up and grab a hold of her,” he said.

McClure handed his daughter to another adult, who ran up the hill to her mother.

He said he briefly looked for other injured children before running back to the house.

“Heather thought she was holding her daughter, and she was losing her,” McClure said.

A medical helicopter rushed Ezra to Dayton Children’s Hospital, where she’s undergone several surgeries.

Ezra sustained a broken forearm, a broken upper arm, a broken shoulder bone, and serious internal bruising on her kidney, liver, and spleen.

McClure said the tree amputated her big toe.

“She loves gymnastics and she loves dancing, she’s a ballerina at heart,” he said.

McClure describes Ezra as a straight-A, perfect attendance student with a strong personality.

He hates that she is on a breathing tube right now.

“But she’s a fighter, she’s got a lot of spunk in her, that’s for sure,” McClure said.

The family set up a GoFundMe to raise money for Ezra’s medical bills, travel expenses, and more.
