Dayton Police Lieutenant David Matthews called the shooting a “shootout” that started inside the store. He said gunshots were fired both inside and outside of the store.

Two people were taken into custody at a nearby house for questioning.

Police said they don’t know what started the argument that led to shots being fired yet. As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, they just know it threatened the entire area.

“I wish people had a better way of resolving their issues. This is very dangerous. Third Street is a very busy street. This is a very busy store for this neighborhood,” Matthews said. “I look at it this way: two weeks ago, there would have been kids riding bikes all over the place. Today they’re all in school, thankfully.”

The shooting remains under investigation.
