BUTLER TOWNSHIP — A man is in custody after a large presence was called to a neighborhood in Butler Township.

Around 10:30 a.m. Butler Township police were called to the 6700 block of Stillmead Drive for reports of a domestic violence and mental health situation, according to Chief John Porter.

Due to reports of a man inside the home having weapons, including a long gun, police blocked off a large part of the neighborhood until they were able to get the man to come out safely.
SWAT was also called to the scene.
Porter said there was possibly an adult child also in the home.
With the help of negotiators, the man inside the home surrendered and was taken to a local VA center for treatment.
Police searched the home to secure and remove weapons.
The man is facing charges connected to the domestic violence incident and the standoff.
