2 men arrested as part of drug investigation in Piqua

PIQUA — Two men were arrested as part of a drug investigation in Piqua on Friday.

Detectives with the Piqua Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant at 425 ½ W. High Street and 427 W. High Street, according to a spokesperson with the police department.

The Piqua Tactical Response Team and the Sidney Tactical Response Team got into and secured the house at approximately 9:15 a.m.

Detectives found evidence of narcotics trafficking and drug abuse while searching the houses.

Richard Beverly, 38, and Matthew Cartonia, 40, both of Piqua, were arrested on outstanding warrants, the spokesperson said.

They are being held at the Miami County Jail.

Two children were at one of the homes at the time of the search.

Miami County Children’s Services helped place the children with family members, the spokesperson said.

No injuries were reported during this incident.

This investigation was initiated after the department received a tip from a community member.

This investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending.
