As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck said a 15-year-old is fighting for his life at Dayton Children’s Hospital after being shot multiple times.

As News Center 7 previously reported, a shooting was reported in the 5000 block of Embassy Place on reports of a shooting before 5 p.m.

“He was out on a nice day, approached, and shot five to seven times while trying to run away. It’s just senseless violence,” Streck said.

Streck said he believes robbery was the motive for the shooting.

A teen pulling out a weapon at a crowded apartment complex could have been a recipe for disaster.

“You know, a firearm like this, the bullets don’t stop 20 years away, they keep going,” Streck said.

News Center 7 spoke to Anna Craft and Monique Littlejohn, who say the victim is their 15-year-old brother.

“And all we see was pop, pop, pop, pop... We was just sitting there having a good time and they shot him,” the woman said.

Streck said deputies took a 17-year-old into custody and found the gun they believed was used.

“Hopefully, the criminal justice system will find a way to at least protect the community until this individual figures out life,” he said.
