Threat prompts lockdown for St. Marys City Schools; FBI helping with investigation

AUGLAIZE COUNTY — UPDATE @ 1:48 p.m.:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is now working with St. Marys Police on an investigation into a threat to schools in the city.

In an update shared on social media, police said they were contacted by St. Marys City Schools about a threatening phone call they received shortly before noon.

“Officers quickly responded to the schools within the district and all schools, including Holy Rosary School, were immediately placed on lockdown for precautionary measures,” police said.

The district shared on social media that it is moving into a “controlled access” for its buildings for the remainder of the day.

“Police will remain at each building. Buses will run as normal. If you choose to pick up your children, please use the front doors of each school to allow traffic flow for buses,” the district wrote.

Police, along with the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the FBI are working with the district on the investigation.

All St. Marys City Schools are on lockdown on Tuesday afternoon due to a threat.

Police confirmed that the lockdown impacts all schools in the district, and students are instructed not to leave or enter the building.
