‘Very tragic;’ Friends of homeowners speak out after car slams into home, 3 injured

WEST CARROLLTON — Two people can’t go home after a car slammed into their house.

“It’s still that shocked feeling. So, trying to process through all of it,” Katelyn York said.

The homeowners said they were advised not to provide a statement. But News Center 7 spoke to two of their friends who had their camper parked in the driveway.

“We had a camping trip planned for this weekend. We were supposed to leave tomorrow morning and go camping at Cedar Creek to get it ready to go to Colorado later this summer,” York said.

Two adults and a teenager were taken to the hospital in critical condition, and impairment is expected, according to the West Carrollton Police Department.

The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. Thursday, and York said she got to the home about 40 minutes later after the homeowners called her.

“We didn’t really know what that meant until we got here, and we saw the car in the driveway, and it was mostly shock,” York said.

The homeowners moved in less than six months ago.

“It’s a very tragic accident. It went straight through their kitchen, really close to their puppy that they had just gotten a couple weeks ago,” York said.

She’s happy that the puppy, she and her friends are okay.

“We plan to work on the camper yesterday and be out here, and we very well could have been in the path of that vehicle coming into their,” York said.
