Water main breaks in Troy repaired; City-wide boil advisory expected to last through Monday

'Major' water main break reported in Troy

TROY — Multiple water main breaks in Troy have been repaired, but the citywide boil advisory remains in effect.

News Center 7 previously reported that the water main break occurred near the city’s water treatment plant in the 300 block of East Staunton Road around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The water main break on E Staunton Road was repaired around 3:30 a.m. and the water main break on Switzer Drive was repaired around 6 p.m., according to a Facebook post from the City of Troy.

System pressures and tank levels are back to normal.

According to the city, hydrant flushing crews are still working to flush the water lines and will continue to do so throughout the evening.

Water samples have been pulled from various locations throughout the city and testing is ongoing.

Water Treatment Plant staff will continue to monitor the system, according to the city.

The city-wide boil advisory remains in effect and is expected to last at least through Monday, Feb. 17 according to a post from the city.

Anyone who may see excessive water in the streets is asked to call 911.
