Worker hurt after robbery at local Boost Mobile; police searching for suspects

KETTERING — They ran into a cell phone store, assaulted a worker there, stole money, and then took off running.

Right now, police want to find them.

“Looking funny, because they was coming up the street; one had a big coat on,” Rhonda said.

With two suspected robbers still on the run, Rhonda didn’t want us to use her last name or show her face.

She said what she saw in Kettering made her follow those two guys into the Boost Mobile store they went into Monday afternoon.

“I said, ‘something don’t look right.’ That’s what made me get up, go inside the store,” Rhonda said.

By the time she got to the storefront, she said that pair was already coming out.

“They wasn’t even there, not even in a minute,” she said.

Rhonda checked on the worker.

“And I went in and I said, ‘hello, hello.’ The guy was laid out on the floor bleeding from his head. He was breathing all hard and stuff, so that’s when I called 911,” she said.

Medics took that employee to the hospital for what police said were minor injuries he suffered during a robbery.

Kettering police shared still images from security cameras in the store that show two men who officers say came into the store, one of them with a gun, assaulted the worker, stole some money, and ran off.

“We’ve got a dog tracking right now, so there’s a K-9 in the area,” Officer Cynthia James with Kettering Police Department said.

As police look for these two guys, Rhonda hopes that changes soon.

“I don’t know what made them do that to that guy,” she said. “I hope they catch ‘em.”
