JACKSON CENTER — A shelter-in-place has been issued in Jackson Center after a gas leak.

A gas line was hit in the area of the 200 block of W. Pike Street around 2 p.m., according to village officials.

All residents and businesses within a half-mile radius are advised to shelter in place immediately.
Please take the following precautions:
- Stay indoors.
- Close and secure all windows and doors.
- Turn off all HVAC systems, including air conditioning, heating, and ventilation.
- If you are driving, turn off your heat and air conditioning and leave the area if it is safe to do so.
- Do not drive around barricades or enter restricted areas.
If you have been impacted by the gas leak and evacuated from your home, a shelter has been established at 627 College St, according to the Jackson Center Police Department.
If you smell gas or have concerns related to the incident, contact the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 937-498-1111.
