SPRINGFIELD — A large police presence blocked a neighborhood in Springfield for hours on Thursday.

A Springfield police lieutenant told News Center 7 that officers responded to reports of a barricaded person in the 1200 block of Tibbetts Avenue at approximately 3:42 p.m.

News Center 7 crews on scene saw two armored trucks and several Springfield police officers blocking the area.
Ricardo and Gloria Lopez live down the street from the house that authorities were focusing on.
“I was really curious because I was hearing the microphone all the way from my house. We live around the corner,” Ricardo said.
“And it was a whole lot of cops everywhere and I was just looking like they was just standing there,” Gloria said.
The lieutenant said there is no danger to the public at this time.
